ABOUT ME
I am a determined and curious person who chooses to think things through before reacting. Remaining level headed in challenging situations is one of my many strengths where I strive to look at the whole picture and put myself in the other persons shoes. I prefer to be proactive rather than reactive and believe that everyone can bring something to the table. Like the gears working behind the face of a clock, there are no unimportant pieces. Remove the gear that seems small and unimportant and you break the clock. The face may get all of the glory, but it will not work without those small, hidden gears.
WHAT I'VE DONE
I was a single mom of four children who joined the fire service after being challenged not to even try. 15 years later, I have retired from the fire service as a technical rescue specialist, engineer/driver, paramedic who broke the glass ceiling becoming the first female officer in the history of the department. During that time, I obtained my A.A.S in Fire Science, B.A. in Emergency Management and was a state certified emergency manager.
WHAT I DO
Continuing my goals for self-challenge and self-improvement, I worked part-time as a flight medic with a fixed wing air ambulance company while is searched out a career in emergency management. I currently work in state service with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services as the Radiation Emergency Unit Supervisor within the Radiation Protection Section. I am nearing the completion of my M.A. in Managements with a concentration in Organizational Leadership where I hope to further challenge myself as I become a State Radiological Coordinator, responding to radiological and nuclear incidents with the State of Wisconsin.
